Acupuncture for Pain – Our Methodologies

By January 29, 2016May 3rd, 2017No Comments

We specialize in the treatment of pain with acupuncture and are unique in that we are skilled in multiple methods of pain treatment.  We expect our patients to get results; therefore we evaluate each patient individually, and apply the technique most suitable for YOU.  You are a unique individual, therefore the treatment for you needs to be customized for your needs and goals.

One of our first line treatment methodologies is call distal needling or “The Balance Method”.  With this treatment, the acupuncture points that are selected are not directly in the site of pain.  Using this technique, we expect an immediate change in pain level.  This method allows a re-wiring of the nervous system to promote circulation and healing.  Since we are working specifically with the adaptive capability of your brain and body, this treatment can be successful for long term results.

Another line of treatment involves direct needling into the site of pain; a form of this method is called Dry Needling by physical therapists.  Physical therapists report their treatment is based on treating trigger pints.  Our view of direct needling is more expansive.  We dry needle trigger points and treat all the surrounding tissues, bone, nerve muscle , tendons.

For some patients, it is important to consider their mental/emotional state or history.  After all, each of us is made up of a body and mind and though we often think of them as separate systems, they are inseparable.  An individual who is experiencing serous stress may perceive pain more acutely.  We help the individual de-stress.

With our varied methodologies, we can treat pain from nearly every source.  Whether it be an injury, arthritis, headache, overuse, the result of medical interventions, you name, we can treat it.  If you have any questions about your pain condition, do not hesitate to call us.
