Treating Arthritis with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine

Have Arthritis?  Here is how we can help you.

There are two different types of arthritis.  First there is osteoarthritis.  This type can effect any joint in the body.  The most common joints effected are the knees, hips and spine. Arthritis results from “overuse” of a joint, or accupressure points phoenixfrom an injury to a joint.  Overuse can mean anything from repetitive movement associated with athletics or work activities, or just from life.  Walking every day for 70 years can be considered “overuse”.

Acupuncture increases local circulation to lubricate the arthritic joint and to increase range of motion and reduce pain.  Sometimes, if pain is severe we will add Chinese Herbs either topically, or internally.  Our goal is to help you re-gain the activity level you desire.

Sometimes osteoarthritis becomes so severe that a medical doctor recommends joint replacement.  Our treatments can often provide enough relief that surgery can be postponed even for several years.

Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory autoimmune disease.  Most often, the joints of the hands and/or feet are effected, (as well as other joints) and on both sides of the body.  The disease may start as early as childhood.

We provide comprehensive treatment for this ongoing condition with acupuncture, Chinese herbs and lifestyle recommendations.  If you desire, we can work in conjunction with your medical doctor to manage RA.  Our goal is to make you as comfortable as possible and to reduce the incidence of flares.  With treatment you may even  be able to work with your medical doctor to reduce medication.

We look forward to taking care of you
