Think about that your life looked like one year ago. Where you lived, what you spent your time doing, where you worked and socialized. Who you surrounded yourself with. How much (or how little) you slept, ate vegetables or drank alcohol. I bet somethings are different right now. You might be working at a new job or in a new social circle. Change is part of life and often it happens and we don’t even realize it.

Now think about how much your life could change in a year if you were intentional about those changes?

That’s exactly how I set up my goals for the new year. I work backwards. Begin with the end in mind as Stephen Covey says.

So instead of planning your year starting from January 1st 2017, start from December 31st 2017. What do you want your life to look like 362 days from now? Who do you want to be? What kinds of things do you want to spending your time on? Use that vision for your life at the end of this year to create your goals for this year. Make sure they are actionable, meaning there are specific steps laid out to accomplish them and have mini goals along the way.

Spend some time this week visualizing what you want your life to look like next year as if anything was possible. You have the ability to create your life.
